Humlegaarden is located only 8 kilometres north of the centre Odense, Denmark. Lars and Bente Mikkelsen are residing at Humlegaarden with their two children Kasper and Jonas.
Humlegaarden consists of approx. 35 mother cattle of pure breed Angus and Limousine.
In the horse staples at Humlegaarden, run by Bente Mikkelsen, there are 8 horses of the breed horse.
Also residing at Humlegaarden is the advertising company of visual communication Mikkelsen & Ko.
Humlegaarden is run as a family agriculture with the most part on grass areas. Including supervision there are approx. 60 acres, primarily remaining grass.
A large number of the animals reside on the national Forest- and Nature Board’s areas as well as the local community’s areas and the animals are therefore in continuous contact with and well-known by the inhabitants of Odense.
Angus cattle are big harmonious animals with a good temper. These are meaty animals with a high growth. They have uncomplicated births and a high milk output.
Limousine´s are big animals with a good temper. Their births are uncomplicated and their milk output is high. For a couple of years now, we have worked on getting polled animals and have sold embryos to Norway and Finland and live polled heifers to Germany.
Humlegaarden produces beef and wheal after the following principles:
During the summer they graze freely on fields and meadows where they have an incredible ability to transform grass into quality meat.
During the winter the animals are in a light and airy staple where they have space and the opportunity to lots of exercise and fresh air. This makes it possible for the animals’ muscular system to develop naturally.
The calves suckle until they are 6-9 months of age. Thereafter they are fed with healthy and natural feed without any unnatural additives, medicine or growth promoters.
The animals bred here at Humlegaarden are big and harmonious. They have a really good temper, uncomplicated births and high growth. Every year we have ET-cattle bred from the best bulls.
